Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy “Monty Python and the Holy
Grail,”
Spamalot
tells a fractured version of the tale of King Arthur and his Knights
of the Round Table. Their quest for the Grail takes them from medieval England,
through a dark and very expensive forest, all the way to a Las Vegas-inspired Camelot.
Traditional characters from the Arthurian legend are here: The Lady of Lake (with the
Laker Girls), Lancelot and Galahad (and his mother, Mrs. Galahad), and the Black
Knight. After two acts full of knightly adventures, the Grail is found and true love
triumphs for an optimistic ending that always looks on the bright side of life.
