SUMMER PROGRAM 2012
A Letter from Lady Prunella Brick-Bletchley
Dear Friends and Patrons of the Caribbean Light Opera Society, **
How proud I am to welcome you to our current season!
As you know, our road has not been a smooth one.

we had hoped. Our family-friendly production of
A Musical Nativity
was delayed
when pirates stole the gold, frankincense and myrrh, along with several live
sheep.
Then our production of
The Twelve Merrye Maids
had to be cancelled entirely
due to the kidnapping of ten out of the twelve maids. They were returned to us;
still merrye, but not quite as maidenly.
But we remain undaunted!
Critics said the Caribbean could never support a Light Opera Society dedicated
to wholesome British culture. They claimed the heat had melted our inhibitions
and we were only interested in tropical drinks and loose behavior.

upstanding and interested in Improving Entertainment. And our entertainment
is always improving.
For instance, tonight marks the world premiere of a wholy original opera, written
by our very own Governor (and principal patron of the Caribbean Light Opera
Society) Major General Stanley. It is entitled
Lonely At The Top: A G v nor’s Tale
.

And next week, we have that classic pastoral suite,
Shepherds of Arcadia
, during
which, alas, you will have to imagine the sheep.
For True Art is never easily achieved, and so we soldier on; in spite of heat; in
spite of pirates; and in spite of the island-wide mutton shortage. These are a
small price to pay for a transcendent evening of music.
Many thanks,
Lady Prunella Brick-Bletchley

**Normally, these program notes would be written by a “Mr. Michael Isaacson,” whose role at this
theater is unclear to me. I drew his attention to the fact that I outrank him socially, and he graciously
allowed me to write the program notes myself.
